Ecology Project
Coral Reef
Purpose
The purpose of this project was to investigate an ecosystem and take time to recognize the human impact we have on that certain ecosystem and create a solution to solve a problem we caused. My group and I chose to focus on the coral reeves.
Evidence of Work
Concepts
Global Warming-Long term rise in average temperatures of earths climate
Carrying Cap- The quantity of organisms of things of the ecosystem can sustain ably carry.
Abiotic/Biotic- Non living chemical and physical factors in an environment which effect different ecosystems.
Carbon Cycle- The biochemical cycle by which carbon in exchanged among the biosphere.
Nitrogen Cycle- The biochemical cycle by which nitrogen is converted into multiple chemical forms.
Water Cycle- The movement of water between the earths oceans, atmosphere and land.
Individual biosphere- Coral Reef
Symbiosis(mutualism, predation)- Two species living in close proximity.
Biomass- The total mass of organisms on a given area or volume.
Food- Energy flows into an ecosystem, as a result of captured solar energy.
Limiting Factors- Water sanity, pollution, rising temperatures
Disturbance of home- A temporary change in environmental conditions that causes a pronounced change in an ecosystem.
Biodiversity- The variety of life on any ecosystem.

Reflection
From this project, I got to learn a lot about how we effect ecosystems. I enjoyed learning about how the coral reef gets effected and how we can solve that problem. With any group project, there are highs and there are lows. A couple of the highs were that I had fun learning about this ecosystem and enjoyed who I was working with. However, a couple lows that my group and I had were that the work was often procrastinated to the last minute and didn’t get finished. We would get distracted and off task easily which is never a recipe for success. I’m the end, I felt that we did an ok job and I enjoyed this project very much.
