Fixing Ecology
Greenhouse Gasses
Description
For this project, we had to come with a problem in our society that we can solve. Our group decided to do the problem of greenhouse gasses. Our solution is to cut out synthetic fertilizers and use genetically modified microbes and put them into plants or trees. Then we would use nitrogen to fuel the plant or tree and give the plant whatever it needs to grow. We cut out the synthetic fertilizers because it causes greenhouse gas emissions, and our plan would cut that out, but you would still have your crops or plants.
Content
Effector: A molecule that binds protein and affects the function of that protein
Exudate:A fluid containing solutes, protein cells, or cellular debris discharged into nearby tissues or on tissue surfaces l, caused by inflammation or injury
Rhizosphere:The region of soil in the vicinity of the plant roots in which chemistry and microbiology is influenced by their growth, respiration, and nuclear exchange
Bulk soil:The soil outside the rhizosphere
Greenhouse gasses:Gasses which are absorbed by infrared radiation which radiates heat in different directions
Microbes:Any of the microorganisms, especially those causing diseases or infections
Salmonella:A bacterium that occurs mainly in the intestine, especially a serotype causing food poisoning
Nitrogen:A colorless, odorless interactive gas that forms about 78% of the earths atmosphere

Reflection
This project was a fun project because our group got to pick what topic we would do. However, our group picked a broad topic and a difficult solution and didn’t work out all the kinks that would come up with our solution. We would get our work done, but didn’t go the extra mile to make our project better and have better research to help back up our solution to our problem. That aside, I enjoyed working with Chase and Sophia and I’m glad that we got to do this project. This was one of my favorite projects of the year.
