Evidence of Work
For the first part of this project, we learned about evolution. We then had to pick an an animal that was endangered and do a project on it. After that, we made a GANT chart to keep our schedule and what we had to do everyday in order to finish in time and make the presentation the best it could possibly be. We made sure to spread out the work load so that everyone had the same amount of work and that no one was forced to do all of it. After we finished the slideshow, we went back and double checked it. Then, we began practicing for our presentation day by rehearsing our slideshow.
Content or our work
Evolution-The change of species over time. The panda had evolution from a small mammal in Europe to a giant mammal in Asia.
Artificial Selection-When humans choose the traits a species will have in order to have. The panda doesn't really have any artificial selection, but we have moved them into zoos to keep them alive.
Natural Selection-It's when nature gets involved in changing the traits of an animal. The panda for example has had it's teeth made to chew bamboo a lot better than it used to.
Biodiversity-It is the different things that involve different organisms, and it is important because different organisms depend on each other in order to live. For example, the panda spreads the seeds from bamboo after consuming it and it provides more food for the pandas.
Speciation-When a species changes overtime. The panda happened to be part of the raccoon family at one point.
Allopatric Speciation-When a species changes overtime due to a change of their environment. Humans have gotten in the way or destroyed pandas habitats causing sepertation and that leads to speciation.
Sympatric Speciation-When a species changes overtime in the same are, and that can happen if the same species but two different types of the animal are together. For example if two different types of pandas were together, that would be sympatric speciation.
Survival of the fittest-When the species with the best traits survives and the others die off. The panda with the best traits survives and the others will die off.
Extinction-When an entire species has died off completely. The giant panda is near extinction and is at a high risk of extinction.
Gene Pool-The different genes in a environment. The pandas have a gene pool in their environment.
Mutation-When a certain gene is changed in a species. The pandas have had mutations over the many years they have been on this planet and it has formed them into what they are today.
Gene Flow-When some genes in the gene pool leave and new ones come in the pool.
Shrinking Population-When a population begins to get smaller and smaller. The humans destroying the habitats for the pandas has been a part of their shrinking population.
Non-random mating-When some organisms pick who to mate with and they pass down certain traits in order to survive. When mating, the pandas only choose the best males to mate with in order of survival.
Adaption-When a species changes to better live due to changes. The pandas adapted to the new food (bamboo) and new area of living to survive.

Reflection
For this presentation, I feel like it went well. It was our first presentation of the year and after presenting, I know there is a lot of things that I can work on to better myself for the next presentation. I need to work on memorizing the slides so that I don't have to look back at the board. I also need to prepare better for questions that will be asked after we present. For the making of the presentation, I need to work on staying focused at all times, and in order to do that I will express that to my group mates so they can help me as well. I am very interested and excited in what our next project will be and what the year has to hold in STEM.
